Number Portability
Local Number Portability
BWT participates fully in Local Number Portability (LNP) as both a porting-in and porting-out carrier. We comply with all FCC and state regulatory requirements for number portability.
Porting Numbers to BWT
Port-In Process
- Submit a port request via our API or by contacting our porting team at portouts@bwt.io
- We submit the LSR (Local Service Request) to the losing carrier
- FOC is issued (Firm Order Confirmation) by the losing carrier with a scheduled port date
- Number activates on BWT’s network on the FOC date
Typical Timelines
- Simple wireless ports: 1-3 business days
- Simple wireline ports: 3-5 business days
- Complex/project ports: 5-15 business days depending on the scope and the losing carrier’s responsiveness
These are typical timelines, not guarantees. The losing carrier controls the FOC date. We submit clean LSRs and follow up on rejections promptly, but we can’t force another carrier to move faster than they’re willing to.
What We Need From You
- The telephone number(s) to be ported
- Authorized end-user name and address exactly as it appears on the current carrier’s account
- Current account number (if applicable)
- PIN or password (if applicable, especially for wireless ports)
- A signed Letter of Authorization (LOA)
Get this right the first time and ports go smoothly. Get it wrong and you’ll get a reject, and we’ll both wait for another cycle.

Port-Out Process
We process port-out requests in compliance with FCC rules and applicable timelines. We don’t hold numbers hostage or invent reasons to reject port-outs.
Port-out requests should be directed to our porting team at portouts@bwt.io.
SPID Information

Bulk and Project Ports
For ports involving more than 25 numbers, or ports requiring coordinated cutover timing, contact us in advance to arrange a project port. We’ll assign a project coordinator and work with you and the losing carrier to schedule the migration.
Toll-Free Number Portability
Toll-free number portability is handled through the standard RespOrg change process via the SMS/800 database. Contact our team for RespOrg information.
